Making Every Day Count: Peru and Utah Rally Behind the LIM–SLC Lane

Sebastian Abril, our Director of Air Freight Strategy & Development, shared the following update from his recent visit with a Utah delegation to Peru.

With the LIM–SLC lane now live and running daily through January 25, 2026, we’re in a focused trial window where every day matters. Time is short, and that reality has pulled the passenger and cargo communities into the same posture: make every day count. What we’re seeing in Peru and Utah is the same thing—two communities rising to the challenge, working shoulder-to-shoulder to give this lane its best possible shot at earning a long-term future.

The inaugural LIM–SLC flight launched on December 4, 2025. With a limited window to prove performance, the shared focus has been simple: reliability, consistency, and showing up strong for customers every day.

With only 48 hours on the ground in Lima, our delegation tried to honor every hour. We were hosted with generosity and kindness, and we met professionals who take real pride in how they move freight, serve customers, and build long-term partnerships.

Thank you to Abi Ortiz and the Delta Cargo team for opening the door and trusting us into relationships that have been built carefully over many years. And thank you to Steve Forrer (AFCO) and Nate Lavin (Salt Lake City International Airport / SLCDA) for presenting a clear infrastructure vision and an airport strategy grounded in both passenger and cargo demand. Their willingness to build—and their track record of operational credibility—came through strongly and gave our Peruvian hosts confidence that Salt Lake City is a serious, reliable place to do business.

A respectful thank-you as well to the Utah Governor’s Office of Economic Opportunity (GOEO) and World Trade Center Utah (WTC Utah) for inviting us to join the delegation. Utah’s ability to move forward together is one of its quiet strengths.

A quick word on the market: Peru’s forwarding community is sophisticated and growth-minded. The conversations were practical—less about hype, more about cooperation, partnership, and what actually works in real operations.

And finally, a special thank you to the Jorge Chávez International Airport terminal team and to Talma for world-class ground handling. The new terminal is a crown jewel for Peru, and it’s matched by the talent and discipline of the people running it.

It’s a privilege to work alongside partners who share a real commitment to innovation, execution, and problem-solving.
